Voluntary AI transparency statement (Article 50(4) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689)
AI Use in Content Creation
We voluntarily disclose the use of AI assistants in the creation of this edition. Under Article 50(4) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, content that has undergone editorial review by a human and for which a person bears editorial responsibility is exempt from mandatory labelling; we disclose it nonetheless, as an editorial decision.
Areas of AI Application
Research and source analysis Automated tools were used for searching, analyzing, and verifying sources, and processing large volumes of textual data.
Editorial support AI tools were used for grammar checking, stylistic editing, and text formatting.
Technical implementation Automated systems were used for generating web code, optimizing site performance, and accessibility checks.
Illustrations Book illustrations were generated using an AI tool (Replicate Flux 1.1 Pro / Flux 2) under the art direction of Frida (FolkUp illustrator). Disclosed voluntarily; artistic responsibility, curation, and the final decision on each illustration remain with the FolkUp editorial team.
What Was NOT Created by AI
Core chapter content All analytical conclusions, interpretations, and arguments belong to the author.
Creative decisions The book's structure, choice of literary parallels, and conceptual connections were developed by humans.
Research methodology The research approach, verification principles, and academic standards were defined by the author.
Quality Control
The human. Plots, lines of thought, book structure, literary parallels, and all analytical conclusions arise without AI participation — this is the author's work. The author personally proofreads every book and every published text in its entirety and personally signs off on every version before release. Where an edition has a living reader — a native speaker (the German edition has a reader in Berlin) — their notes are incorporated into revisions.
AI assistants. Editing, fact-checking against sources, adversarial review, technical work, and translation drafts are performed by AI assistants of the Shield ("ЩИТ") editorial system, named individually in the colophon. Each of their edits is a proposal to the author; the final decision and responsibility remain with the human.
Verifiability. The source of every fact is listed in the apparatus; the Russian original and translations are published side by side under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license — any passage can be checked, contested, and re-edited.
Translations
The English, Portuguese, and German editions of the book are created by one and the same process: an AI assistant translator (Lolik, Zeka, Bolik) prepares the draft translation, the series editor (Iskra) cross-checks the translation against the Russian original, the author signs off on the edition, and where there is a living reader — a native speaker — their remarks are incorporated into revisions. Who translated and who reviewed is stated in the colophon of each edition.
